In Maremma inland you are going to discover a series of medieval towns which will carry you to a peculiar atmosphere full of history, culture and legends, only in a few minutes driving.

You will reach Montemerano following the road after Manciano, a bigger town, driving along curvy streets which will lead you to the old town. Local products stores and artisanal workshops embellish the stone walls of the buildings and in the small squares you will surely find some grannies talking about traditional recipes or fat cats walking around. This old-fashioned town is perfect for the Festa delle Streghe (Witch Feast) that is celebrated every year on October the 31^st. In this day many people come to see withches, ghosts and scary people along the narrow streets and squares of Montemerano.

A few kilometres far from here you will discover the small town of Saturnia. The name is mainly linked to the famous thermal springs, but the town has also historic relevance. In fact it was founded by the Etruscans, then was ruled by Romans and Goths, a few centuries after by the Aldobrandeschi family, then Siena and Orvieto competed for it and finally Saturnia was destroyed during a battle.

The old town is hidden by walls, inside them we suggest you to visit the Santa Maria Maddalena church and the Rocca aldobrandesca.
